Crowns & Implant Crowns

Restoring Strength, Function, and Your Natural Smile

When a tooth has been weakened by a large cavity, fracture, or years of wear, a filling alone may no longer provide enough strength. In these situations, a custom porcelain crown can restore the tooth's function while protecting it for years to come.

At The Smile Space, we use high-quality ceramic materials and digital technology to create crowns that are designed to look, feel, and function like your natural teeth.

When Is a Crown Recommended?

A dental crown may be recommended if your tooth has:

  • A large cavity that cannot be predictably restored with a filling

  • A cracked or fractured tooth

  • A large or failing filling

  • Significant wear from grinding or clenching

  • Undergone root canal treatment

  • Structural damage that requires additional protection

A crown completely covers the visible portion of the tooth, restoring its strength while helping protect it from future fracture.

If you're missing a tooth and have a dental implant, a custom implant crown is attached to the implant to restore the appearance and function of your smile.

What to Expect

Receiving a crown is typically completed over two visits.

FIRST VISIT

We'll gently numb the tooth and carefully prepare it for the crown while preserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible.

Next, we use our iTero® digital scanner to capture a precise 3D model of your tooth—no messy impression materials required. Your digital scan is sent to our dental laboratory, where your custom porcelain crown is carefully fabricated.

Before you leave, we'll place a comfortable temporary crown to protect your tooth while your permanent restoration is being made.

SECOND VISIT

Approximately two weeks later, you'll return for your final appointment.

We'll remove the temporary crown, evaluate the fit, bite, color, and appearance of your new restoration, and make any necessary adjustments before permanently cementing it into place.

Our goal is for your new crown to feel comfortable, function naturally, and blend seamlessly with the rest of your smile.

Implant Crowns

If you've already had a dental implant placed by your oral surgeon or periodontist, we'll restore it with a custom implant crown designed specifically for your smile.

Each implant crown is carefully matched to the shape, size, and shade of your surrounding teeth to provide a natural-looking result that restores both function and appearance.

If you're considering a dental implant but haven't yet begun treatment, we'll work closely with your surgical specialist to coordinate every step of your care.

Digital Impressions

At The Smile Space, we use our iTero® digital scanner instead of traditional impression material to create an accurate digital model of your teeth.

Digital scanning provides a more comfortable experience while allowing us to communicate precise details to our dental laboratory, helping create restorations that fit beautifully and feel natural.

Digital Precision

A successful crown depends on more than the materials used—it depends on the precision of every step along the way.

From digital scanning and custom shade matching to carefully evaluating the fit and bite before final placement, we take the time to ensure every crown is comfortable, functional, and designed to blend naturally with your smile.
